If you’re one of the fans who is waiting for the official release of We Happy Few, we’ve got some good and bad news for you. Last August 2017, Compulsion Games announced that their new horror game title will be released coming April 2018.
During that reveal time, Compulsion Games also unveiled that Gearbox Publishing will be their partner for porting the game to PC, Xbox One and PS4. However, it looks like things didn’t go as planned as they rescheduled the official release date of the game until Summer 2018.
As announced today, the company confirmed that there will be some adjustments for the release of We Happy Few. Instead of April 2018, it will be rescheduled for Summer this year, no exact date has been given.
In a recent interview with Sam Abbot, the developers had to adjust some of the game’s story and make some rework:
There are these moments that are memorable, very funny, and super weird and we’re really excited to show you all. But we felt that the first two hours of Arthur’s story just didn’t live up to those moments, meaning that the game didn’t start as well as it should. So we went back to the drawing board and made a couple of big decisions: we brought forward a number of story moments, to get into the action faster, and also rebuilt the whole first island for Arthur.
To ease the frustration of the fans, the developers show a sneak peek of a new character that will be available in the game. In the video, the new character that has been revealed is Sally. Her appearance in the clip is too short, but it looks like she will have a big role in the story.
Below is the announcement video from the developer along with the sneak peek of Sally.
