While there are lots of good games that were being released on PS4 lately, it seems like Sony is facing another major glitch that can soft brick a PS4 console by simply receiving that message.
PS4 users are warning other owners to disable private messaging on their account. This is because the new code glitch that crashes a PS4 can be sent via a normal private message which forces PS4 owners to factory reset their console to make it work again.
This is not the first time that a malicious line of texts crashes a device. Just this year alone, even Apple’s iPhone also experienced the same glitch that when a user received a line of characters, their iMessaging app crashes which also forces a user to reformat their device.
As of now, Sony hasn’t released any statement yet about this glitch on their PS4 console. So while there is still no solution to this bug, PS4 owners are encouraged to set their private messaging to private, where only friends or trusted people can send them a message.
If you ever received a message from an unknown person that doesn’t show any text preview, don’t open it on your PS4 console. Instead, open your PlayStation messaging app on iOS or Android and delete it immediately.
If you’re already affected by the glitch the time you are reading this, the only way for you to use PS4 again is to reboot into recovery mode and find the rebuild database, which should fix the bug in your console. After you finished fixing the glitch, head over to your PlayStation messaging app and delete the message that you received.
