One of the most requested features in PlayStation Network is the ability to change the PSN Online ID. Earlier today, Sony has announced that the beta testing for the name change feature will begin soon.
This is a good news to all PlayStation owners who want to change their PSN ID. Unfortunately, the change name feature beta testing is not available to the public.
According to the official announcement, only members of the PlayStation Preview Program and select users who pre-registered the beta tests of PlayStation will be able to participate in the change name beta. The official start of the testing is still unknown, but since this beta will only be available until the end of November, it’s likely that it will start this month or early days of November.
During the testing period, beta participants will be able to change their name as many times as they like. However, during its official release, the first change name will be free of charge and the 2nd change name will now cost $9.99.
In addition, Sony has confirmed that change name feature will be available on all games released after April 1, 2018, along with most of the PS4 games that were released before this date. However, they also mentioned that not all games for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita will support the name change feature.
After the beta testing, Sony is planning to release the full PSN change name feature early next year. No specific date has been mentioned but this is a good news for everyone.
