The Walking Dead and other episodic series game developer, Telltale Games, has announced what they call Major Studio Closure, dropping almost 250 employees.
According to the official statement released via Twitter, it seems like the company hits a big rock and experiencing hard times in the industry. This is one bad news for their approximately 250 who lost their jobs. However, thy keeps 25 people inside the room to continue the remaining work of the company.
Here’s the official statement released by CEO Pete Hawley:
It’s been an incredibly difficult year for Telltale as we worked to set the company on a new course. Unfortunately, we ran out of time trying to get there. We released some of our best content this year and received a tremendous amount of positive feedback, but ultimately, that did not translate to sales. With a heavy heart, we watch our friends leave today to spread our brand of storytelling across the games industry.
Apart from the employees who lost their job, this is also a bad news for the fans of the games that they developed. This includes The Walking Dead which most likely, we won’t be able to see how Clementine’s story ends. The closure of the studio also means that we have to stop expecting the second season of The Wolf Among Us and the development Stranger Things.
