With the groundbreaking updates in Fortnite, it doesn’t mean PUBG is losing its balance. During the presentation of the new DOTA 2 card game, Artifact, Valve CEO Gabe Newell revealed that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now the third top-selling steam game of all time.
“You can have a relatively new game like PUBG, and […] they can capitalize on all the other multiplayer games, and all of the technology, [and] the fact that China is now a huge market for anybody who does PC game development,” Newell said. “So PUBG can come out of pretty much nowhere and become the third largest selling game on Steam’s history. Their gross revenue over all-time is already number three in fairly short order,” he added.
While some are surprised by the reveal, most fans are curious if what games got the number 1 and 2 spot for the best-selling games on Steam. However, Valve did not reveal it during the event, and they may never say it.
PUBG has been released last March 2017 on Steam through Early Access and made its official lunch in December. Though the game has been released officially, PUBG Corp. continues to support the game title by giving fans regular updates. In fact, the developer has shared the PUBG development roadmap for this year, and this includes a new map and much more.
