Sea of Thieves Will Never Have Loot Crates Design Director Confirmed

Based on what we’ve seen so far, the success of Sea of Thieves is currently hanging on good weathering high sea storms, dance parties, and good NPC’s. Well, I personally like this kind of theme and am equally additionally, the approach of loot boxes. According to the developer, the success of the game will never rely on microtransactions made by the game.

As confirmed by Mike Chapman, design director of the game:

What I will confirm is there are no microtransactions for launch at all. Based on us continuing to build this game, we’ll probably consider some form of microtransactions. What we will say is there will never be loot crates in Sea of Thieves.

Chapman also suggests that he and his team aims to adopt a new take on an idea for cosmetic microtransactions, as long as these items suites on the theme of the game. He also added that there will be no form of any gambling in Sea of Thieves.

Before his talk ends, Chapman said they will try to do new and interesting things in the game so players won’t think that they have been slapped with microtransactions just like the other games have been offering.

Sea of Thieves will be released on March 20, 2017 for Xbox One, Microsoft Windows.
