What is the Dark Brotherhood?
The Dark Brotherhood represents a deviant branch stemming from the officially sanctioned assassins’ guild known as the Morag Tong. The Morag Tong, primarily situated in the province of Morrowind, was traditionally a respected albeit feared entity within Morrowind society. Upon acceptance, the murderer is assigned a specific target for elimination.
In a parallel vein, Argonians born under the sign of the Shadow in Black Marsh undergo training by an order known as the “Shadowscales.” Upon completion of their training, they are seamlessly integrated into the Dark Brotherhood. How to join
Upon the initial instance when the Hero of Kvatch takes the life of any innocent individual, excluding those integral to quests or already hostile, a message shall materialize, declaring, “Your act of slaying has been witnessed by enigmatic forces…”
Subsequent to the Hero of Kvatch’s rest in a secure haven, Lucien Lachance, an emissary of the Black Hand, will materialize. Bestowing the quest “A Knife in the Dark” along with the Blade of Woe, Lucien Lachance assigns the Hero the mission of dispatching an irate elderly man named Rufio, residing in the Inn of Ill Omen.
Once Rufio is dead, the Hero must sleep and Lucien Lachance will visit them and offer a membership. When killing him, if he is asleep, along with anyone else who sleeps, they can pickpocket him and get more gold than if they just killed him. Ook, after they have pickpocketed him, a simple knife to the back will kill him.
