Booth A Dystopian Adventure Achievements Walkthrough Guide

A definitive and thorough guide to Booth achievements

Introduction

Booth: A Dystopian Adventure is the compelling multi-choice story of Ned Crawford, a food inspector working the skyline belt in Iden. With a troubled past and complacent future, the player gets to decide Ned’s true fate in this famine-riddled world.

Booth has a fantastic narrative and subtle storytelling that allows the player to piece together the structure of the world it has built. There’s a surprising lack of information for this amazing game, and I’d love to make it more accessible for players to enjoy!

Below, I’ve created a comprehensive roadmap to obtain achievements efficiently, as well as details on how to obtain some of the more complex/ambiguous achievements. This game requires a minimum of 4 playthroughs to get 100% achievements.

Beginning Tips

We begin the game with a memory from Ned’s past. After a short tutorial, we’ll be accepted for the night shift as an official food inspector. Here we meet our colleagues, Demian and Awan. Awan will give you a Gift and tell you to expect a phone call. These scenes will be skippable in future playthroughs once we beat the game.

Once you arrive in your booth, Turner will give you a tour of your amenities. While I won’t be going into full game mechanics and tips, it’s important to understand the flow of the game.

When you wake up, you can order food before work. You can build a relationship with the delivery girls the more often you order from them. Every couple of days, Nastia can also show up before work where you can shop a Catalog and buy food, decorations, and items, some that are essential to earning achievements.

Always purchase the Welfare Lottery ticket from Nastia. Items purchased are delivered the next time Nastia stops by.

When you have finished your work, you will be given a grade for the day based on how many mistakes you made or if items were delayed. Once unlocked, you can use Focus to help you catch up if you’re overwhelmed by items on the line or cutting it close to the end of the shift.

After work, your food will be delivered if you ordered any, and you’ll need to eat to recover health before you sleep. Some decorations (like books) can also recover health but have diminishing returns. Sleeping will also impact your health. Typically, sleeping will recover 10~15% health so you don’t need to be 100% full before you go to bed. Sometimes, sleeping will decrease health depending on Ned’s mental state in the story, but this is easily offset by ordering more food.

This guide was made for achievement fanatics like me who want to optimize their gameplay specifically for gaining achievements. Booth is a fantastic game and I highly recommend going through a blind playthrough with your own decisions first to truly experience the story.

Save 1: For the Government

For our first playthrough, we’ll be guiding Ned through “failure” by expressing absolute loyalty to Iden’s government. This will give us a good glimpse of how the world works while also unlocking several baseline achievements. Some of these achievements are very strict, so getting them out of the way now will give us more freedom in how we play moving forward!

Mobius

Breaking Bad

Born to Win

Champagne Supernova

Dodge These

Karaoke Box

Sunset Peak

Heart of Ludo

We’ll be aiming for the Mobius ending in our first run, which has the strictest parameters to obtain. This will also set the stage for obtaining Breaking Bad, which we’ll go back to later.

These are the main rules for Mobius:

► You cannot make any mistakes. An S rank is required for every shift. This is easier than it sounds, the learning curve for the game is very gentle. Even one mistake or delayed item can cause Rupert to fire you for poor performance and alter your ending. If you make a mistake, hit Esc and select “Restart Task” or reload the day from the main menu. This will also unlock Champagne Supernova and Born to Win.

► You cannot take anything from work. This includes black bottles and the Rollcakes that sometimes come through the line. Report the Rollcakes to avoid a mistake, then allow them to pass through the line to avoid a misdump. You might be able to dump them, but I never tried since the instruction is “Take it or leave it”.

► You must decide to secretly report Katja immediately.

► You cannot leave any incriminating evidence inside your booth. This includes Awan’s Gift and Katja’s Map. Keep these in your inventory, DO NOT give the Map to a delivery girl.

► You cannot form a relationship with any of the delivery girls. Ned is overeager and will mention spinners during casual conversation after a couple encounters with the same girl, causing Rupert to call you out for thought crime. To keep yourself fed, order food in bulk so you won’t have to make another call for awhile, and don’t order from the same place multiple times. You can also purchase extra food from Nastia if you need to (Milky Pops are great).

► Do not go to the Swimming Gym on your day off. Choose Karaoke Box or Mountain Peak. We’ll be going to the Swimming Gym in a later playthrough. This doesn’t impact Mobius.

► Do not ask about spinners on your day off.

► You must avoid suspicion during the Employee Survey beginning on Day 32.

To do this, answer the following:

– Correct Rupert about your Booth number.
– Say you work For the People.
– Stick to your answer.
– Be honest about your mother’s 15 year care.
– Criminals deserve a second chance.
– Treat food inspection as a lifelong career.
– Tell Demian you’ve been honest.
– Say you were devastated.
– You work For the People.
– Ask your father to give himself up.
– Choose the girl you went out with on your day off.
– She’s an Acquaintance.
– Yes, you want to be Friends.
– Don’t tell Demian what you heard about him.
– Report only Awan. (For Mobius)
– OR don’t tell him anything. (For Breaking Bad)
– Don’t defend for Katja.

This will unlock Dodge These.

► During the court trials, be open to investigation.

If you followed everything correctly, you’ll be brought into the interrogation room with Rupert instead of being judged in court. If you made any mistakes, Rupert will fire you. If you reported Awan, you’ll achieve the Mobius ending. If you didn’t tell him anything, you’ll have a chance to report DEES again now, which will achieve the Breaking Bad ending. Be sure to go back to Day 36 of this Save to change your response to unlock the other ending.

With all the S ranks, you’ll have plenty of money to purchase the Gameboi from Nastia and play it to unlock Heart of Ludo. It costs $3000 so be sure to save up!

Save 2: For DEES

We now have the ability to auto-play/skip dialogue, and skip work tasks. Skipping work will give you a median rank of C. For this playthrough, I recommend not skipping work tasks to ensure you’re making enough money for this achievement set. If you do choose to skip dialogue, keep a careful eye on your phone calls, as DEES will always call to let you know when black bottles are going to be showing up on the line, which are days we cannot skip work.

Arrival

Innocence

Brave New World

Swimming Gym

Memory of Iori

Memory of Katja

Memory of A

By coupling our DEES playthrough with getting aquainted with Iori, we can reach 2 ending achievements at once, which is also one that allows us to pursue Brave New World.

► To begin, we’ll be ordering exclusively from Zen (717-5577) every day.

► Keep a close eye on Nastia’s Catalog, as we’ll need to purchase a Tuland Beer. Once the Tuland Beer is delivered, be sure to give it to Iori before your day off.

► In order to ally with DEES, we’ll have to take at least one black bottle from the work line. You’ll have three opportunities to do so. It’s not necessary to get all 3 bottles, but getting at least one bottle before Oshimi arrives will help keep your inventory clear. Unlike our last playthrough, we can clear out Katja’s Map by giving it to Iori as well.

► While books are useful for Thankstarving, we’re going to want to save as much of our money as we can for the Call Girl service later. It’s better to order food for this playthrough. Milky Pops from Nastia are great because they contain 4 10% servings for $40.

► Be sure to stock up on extra food before Thankstarving. Katja will be showing up at our door, and we’ll be helping her this time. Choose to not report Katja. After work, you can get acquainted with Katja by clicking on her portrait. You can also give her food. The recovery amount of the food doesn’t matter. After feeding her 3 times, she’ll tell you she’s had enough to be full for the week and won’t accept any more food. Eventually, you’ll get a chance to talk to Katja and open up about your family. Stay firm on your choice to not report Katja to unlock Memory of Katja.

► On Day 18, we’ll receive a Call Girl card (161-6969). The service costs $1000 and you’ll want to order as soon as possible. There is a 50% chance that A will show up as our call girl, giving us our first encounter of the playthrough. If another girl shows up, reload back to before you called and try again. I believe after the Employee Survey, she changes jobs and may no longer be available through Call Girl services.

► For your day off, go to the Swimming Gym with Iori. If you gave Iori a Tuland Beer before now, she’ll return the gift by giving you a beautiful Paperweight. Keep this in your inventory for the rest of the game, as we’ll need it with us for Innocence. We can also find A here for our second encounter in the playthrough. After the date, you’ll unlock Memory of Iori.

► For the Employee Survey, you have more freedom to answer as you please. Since we’re already on the DEES path, your answers will not impact the ending. Just be sure to NOT tell Rupert about Awan, the Unknown Man, or turn over any information about DEES. Do not leave Awan’s Gift in your booth while you’re gone.

► After the Employee Survey, Iori will be AWOL, but we want to continue ordering from Zen. Sometimes a robot may show up, but we also have a chance to get our third and final encounter with A to unlock Memory of A.

► It’s a clear straight shot to the ending now. During the court hearings, be sure to call the lawyer Quinn to finalize your alliance with DEES. The missions you have to complete can be challenging. During the mission where you have to count items, I found it easier to count them in batches instead of sequentially. So instead of 5, 12, and 20, I counted 5, then 7, then 8.

If you did everything correctly, you’ll escape from Iden with the help of DEES, unlocking Arrival. If you kept Iori’s Paperweight with you, you’ll also unlock Innocence. Before clicking on the radio to roll the credits, there is one last thing we have to do.

► There’s a postcard in an envelope in the top-right corner. Note that it has a number on it. In fact, if you’ve been paying close attention, you’ll realize that all Letters in the game have a secret number on them that can be compiled into a full phone number (341-2593). If you want to put it together yourself, you can view all Letters from the Main Menu’s “Continue”. Days with Letters are marked and you can click the day, then “Letter” to view them. Dial it on the phone.

► Don’t be fooled by the Tutorial-esque landscape. This is a final boss fight.

– Trial 1: Gate of Mastery. A normal belt but harder. All tests and sanitation required.
– Trial 2: Gate of Memory. The screen will slowly fade out. Take a screenshot or write it down.
– Trial 3: Gate of Rule. This one is a bit finnicky. You decide the qualifying tests for the items. You’ll have shrimp, crab, small fish, and big fish. Check for Germ first, then write down the weight and color of the ones you want to ship through. These will be your rules. For example, if you send through a Crab that’s 400 Weight and Blue, ALL other Crabs must be 400 Weight and Blue.

Once you’ve completed the 3 Trials, you’ll see the true ending and unlock Brave New World.

Save 3+4: Final Cleanup

Now we’ve unlocked all endings, but we still need to go back a couple times to meet the other delivery girls. Luckily, this will be pretty quick since we can skip dialogue and work tasks. Unless you’re still missing Lottery King, it’s safe to reset after your day off.

Memory of Chan

Memory of Elodie

Karaoke Box

Sunset Peak

Lottery King

► Chan can be encountered by ordering from Föok Wong (887-7655). She can be a bit elusive as it seems Föok Wong isn’t always open, but I’ve found that if you call her right away on Day 1, it’s more likely to be able to reach her on future days. At some point, Chan will ask you to get her some “good food”, which you will have to steal from work. Spending your day off with Chan will unlock Memory of Chan.

► Elodie can be encountered by ordering from E.C.’s Family Restaurant (636-8866). Her relationship path is pretty straight forward. You can choose to study for the Ministry exams with her to get slightly different dialogue options with Rupert when choosing “I want a job in the Ministry”. Spending your day off with Elodie will unlock Memory of Elodie.

► There’s only one date spot left. We already went to the Swimming Gym, so choose whichever option you didn’t pick in your first playthrough – either Sunset Peak or Karaoke Box.

► The Welfare Lottery is available through Nastia’s Catalog starting on Day 2, with the last ticket on Day 33. To unlock Lottery King, you need to win a total of $200 in a single playthrough. If you were unlucky so far, be sure to play through Day 33, otherwise you can reset after your date. Lottery winnings range from $5 ~ $80, sometimes giving BETTERLUCKNEXTTIME. I believe the amount of the winnings is determined at the time of purchase with Nastia, not when you actually scratch the ticket, so you can always reload on Catalog days until you get a favorable outcome.

Congrats, that’s everything! I hope you enjoyed the game as much as I did!

Notes

Sometimes an achievement may not be triggered due to a poor connection with Steam’s server. If that happens, check your network, reboot your game, and try going through the scene again.

Huge thank you to Guanpeng Chen (Undercurrent) for creating such a fun and beautiful game and allowing me to source their guide! I hope to see more amazing work in the future!
