How Does AI Work in Baldi’s Basics Classic Remastered

Just a simple guide of the AI’s and how they function in BBCR.

Baldi’s AI

State 1: Wander
He sets a location to go nearby and goes to it.
This continues until Chase Mode is triggered or Follow Mode is triggered.

State 2: Follow
This state is triggered when he hears a noise.
He will go to the sound heard with the quickest route possible.
There are higher priority noises than others. If he reaches the sound and does not find the player,
he will go back to Wander Mode. If he does find them, he will go to Chase Mode.

State 3: Chase
This state is triggered when the player is seen by Baldi.
He will charge the player until they are no longer seen.
If the player runs to a corner, Baldi will go around the corner to check for the player.
The only way to get him out of this state is if he cannot see or find you anymore.

Sound Priorities
As mentioned in the State 2 segment, Baldi has certain sound priorities.
Each one is considered more important than the other.
Here is a list of each sound from high priority to low priority:

#1 Detention – When you go to detention
#2 Alarm Clock – When you use the alarm clock
#3 Exit Reached – When you reach an exit
#4 Bad Math – When you get a question wrong in a notebook
#5 Doors – When you open a door
(Note: “Baldi’s Least Favorite Tape” stops Baldi from hearing any noise, causing him to be in Wander State until the tape ends)

As you answer questions incorrectly, Baldi’s slapping interval will slow down, causing him to move farther in less time.
If you answer the impossible question incorrectly, it adds to his Anger Level when this happens, his slap interval will be changed by -0.405 seconds.
If you answer any other question incorrectly, his Temporary Anger Level will increase, and Temporary Anger is not permanent as it will decrease by around 0.2 seconds per second. If you get the first question wrong, his slap speed will go down by 0.135 seconds, if you get the second one wrong it will decrease by 0.27 seconds.

Playtime’s AI

State 1: Roam mode.
In Roam Mode, she goes in random directions until another state is triggered.

State 2: Chase mode.
Chase mode is when Playtime notices the player and the cooldown is over. She will chase the player until these things happen:

-Detention (or any other teleportation)
-Player cuts a corner without Playtime noticing (due to poor eyesight).
-Dies by Baldi (Obviously, the game ends).
-Playtime catches the player and goes into play mode.

State 3: Play mode.
Play mode is when Playtime catches the player and then has to make the player jump her rope 5 times without failing. You are stunned while playing with Playtime. If you fail, you have to restart. Four things can happen to stop play mode:

1: The player gets pushed by First Prize or Gotta Sweep.
2: The player gets teleported somewhere (like the detention area).
3: Baldi successfully catches you (ending the game, as always).
4: Jumping far enough from Playtime (you can move during one jump).

Principal’s AI

State 1
Wander
The Principal will wander around the school aimlessly, checking rooms to find either the Bully or the player.
Once he finds the player, it checks if the player is breaking one of the rules. If they are, Charge Mode will be triggered.
If he walks into the Bully he will make the Bully despawn.

State 2
Chase
This state is triggered when the Principal catches you breaking one of the rules.
He will follow you until you are caught. If he catches you, you will be sent to detention.

Bully’s AI

The Bully’s AI is so simple I don’t even need to put it into states. He spawns around 90 seconds after you get the first question wrong. He will spawn in a random
hallway to block the player’s path. If you want to pass either give him a random item by walking into him or make the principal see him asking for an item from you/
Once he de-spawns he will respawn around 90 seconds later. Other characters can not see through the bully, so you can use him to stop Baldi from seeing you.

Gotta Sweeps’ AI

State 1
Disabled
He will spawn in this state after you get the first question wrong. He will change to Enabled Mode after 120 to 180 seconds.

State 2
Enabled
After around 120-180 seconds Gotta Sweep will enter Enabled Mode. Once in this state, he will roam around the school at high speeds for a bit, pushing anything and anyone he encounters. The only way to escape is to use the Big Ol’ Boots.

Arts and Crafts’ AI

State 1
Under 7 Notebooks
He will spawn if you enter certain areas around the map. If he spawns he will run away from you and then despawn.

State 2
At 7 Notebooks
He will do the same as he does in state one, but he will stay still. If you look at him for too long, he will teleport you near Baldi. After doing so, you can’t encounter him again.
