How to Get Higher Resolution in METAL GEAR SOLID 3: Snake Eater (2023)

So, Konami has re released Bluepoints work on the 7th Gen HD Collection and even made some fixes, but bafflingly decided to lock it to 720p. On PC. In 2023.

It took just a few hours for a modder to implement a fix and im sure better ones will continue to come. Let’s face it, this is one of those, buy it and fix it with mods port, sadly. The extras they added are very cool, but come on, work on the core games, darn it. So, let’s fix the game

How to Get Higher Resolution

Required:

This is an experimental ASI Plugin for Steam releases of Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. It allows to change ingame resolution via ini config.

Recommended for play with MGS 3 at resolutions 1920×1080 and 3840×2160. The plugin is compatible with MGS 2, however increased resolution introduces noticeable bugs to the UI. Resolutions other than 1920×1080 and 3840×2160 are not guaranteed to produce an adequate image (it might be stretched), but I didn’t test every possible resolution that is out there, so you might as well try whatever resolution you want.

  1. Download the latest Ultimate ASI Loader from here.
  2. Put d3d11.dll from Ultimate ASI Loader into your MGS2/MGS3 directory
  3. Download the latest MGSResolutionPatch from here.
  4. Put MGSResolutionPatch.asi and MGSResolutionPatch.ini into your MGS2/MGS3 directory
  5. Open MGSResolutionPatch.ini with a text editor to change the resolution to the one you desire

Remember, it can bug the UI in MGS2 currently. All credit goes to Sergeanur and the project has an issues page on Github.
