How to Play Elden Ring in Offline Mode (Disable EAC)

Just like any other PC game this generation, Elden Ring comes with an anti-cheat system to stop online cheaters from abusing the game. While some players love playing Elden Ring with friends, some just want to enjoy the game alone.

There are several ways how you can play Elden Ring offline. One of these methods is temporarily disconnecting your machine before starting the game. However, now everyone wants to disconnect from the internet just to play Elden Ring. Fortunately, there’s still another way to play Elden Ring offline without using the first method above — disabling Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC).

How to Enable Elden Ring Offline Mode

With this guide, we’re using the Steam version of the game. Here’s how you can disable EAC and enjoy Elden Ring offline.

  1. Go to the installation directory of Elden Ring.
  2. Find the file start_protected_game.exe and rename it.
  3. Make a backup copy of elden_ring.exe
  4. Rename the backup copy of elden_ring.exe to start_protected_game.exe.
  5. Launch Elden Ring through Steam normally.

Once the game is launched, you should see a notice that offline mode has been enabled. Since you’re now offline, you should know that you won’t be able to experience and participate in the features when playing Elden Ring in online mode.
