Baldur's Gate 3

How to Save Hag’s Prisoners in Baldur’s Gate 3

How to save everyone from the hag in hug 3 full instruction.

Hag Survivors Club In Act 3

Hag survivors club is located at the lower city, old garlow’s place (-49; -127).

You need to visit this location to get all the quests: save mayrina, save vanra, finally deal with the hag for good.

When you come, you’ll find that mayrina is cursed by the hag.

This is how you can lift the curse.

When you do that, some enemies will attack you, deal with them and look for the anti-hag bomb recipe. It is written inside a book, mayrina will tell you about it. The book is on the first floor of old garlow’s place, in the safe inside the wall. Read the book to unlock the recipe.

Crafting anti-hag bomb, saving vanra, killing the hag for good

When you unlocked the recipe from the book, craft the hag’s bane. You need this to save vanra.

Also you need something fiery to kill hag’s mushrooms.

You need to kill all the mushrooms, and only after that the hag herself.

If you want more intel on vanra you can meet her at the flaming fists, or you can go to the mermaid and confront witnesses there, but tbh when you already have the recipe you can skip everything and just go to the hag’s lair. You do not need to trigger any scripted cutscene to make the hag fight accessible and therefore start saving everyone, and that’s what this guide is all about).

Here is how to go to the hag’s lair in the basement of blushing mermaid:

Inside the lair is a short version of the same thing from act 1. That includes several masked prisoners wandering in front of the final room where you will fight the hag.
If you are planning to save them, just sneak past them and open the room on your left. More on the masks in the next section

At this point you must have the hag’s bane and fiery bombs/spells/arrows to deal with the mushrooms.

If you skipped the mermaid encounter with the captain grisly and just went straight up there, the room will be empty. So what you need to do is put everyone in your party to the convenient position for destroying 3 sets of mushrooms and then shoot a fire arrow to one of them.

The hag will appear and catch up with all the lore you probably already knew: she kidnapped vanra blah blah, we get the idea and still will kill the hag.

When the fight starts, finish all the mushrooms (as mayrina’s instruction suggested) and then throw hag’s bane to the hag. To do that you need to know which one is the real one, so deal with her copies with something like magic missile – hit multiple targets, fake ones will vanish, the real one will swear at you.

Note on the mushrooms: the instruction kinda mislead me that I need to hit them only with the fire, but in fact I think what it meant to say was that the mushrooms can not regenerate if they have burning status on them, you can hit them however you want but they are really vulnerable to the fire. Fireball spell does not cast the burning status but damage them drastically.

After applying the hag’s bane, vanra will escape and you can finish the hag for good.

This is my video on saving vanra fight.

I also tried not to make the hag’s bane several patches ago, however this way hag released vanra, but she was dead. I am not sure if this is a bug, or intended, so just to be safe better make your way to mayrina’s and get the hag’s bane recipe, it works 100%.

Unfortunately, masked prisoners are exactly the same as in act 1. Only one of them can be saved, the rest can not be helped no matter what.

The myth about stealing the masks does not work here too.

I think we are intended to get the full on dnd hag experience in all it’s devastation and glory.

If you managed to bring a mask from act 1, you can kinda speak to the new set of prisoners, they also have letters on them that explain why they went to the hag and what did she promised them.

Well, it is what it is, what we actually can do is to at least keep them alive, here is the video on that fight and saving the masks:

Btw here you can see the failing strat of saving vanra without the hag’s bane – hag was knocked out, released vanra, but her cutscene never appeared because she was dead
