How to Transition From Intermediate to End Game in Mind Over Magic

How to transition out of the Intermediate Classroom and eventually into the specialized end game classrooms.

Advanced Classroom Layouts

You basically have two good options:

  • One teaching station per advanced classroom, room requirements that match the endgame requirements (Grounded/Elevated/etc.). Pros: Transition from advanced to endgame is easier. Cons: Endgame room requirements can be hard or even impossible to meet early in the game and difficult to accurately anticipate the space needed for them (large luxury decorations often required).
  • Giant advanced classroom with space for all stations. Pros: Centralized location, transition from intermediate to advanced is easier and cheaper. Cons: Transition to endgame leaves a big empty room (though that may be useful for other endgame renovations bedrooms/dining) and may make it more difficult to optimize location of endgame classrooms.

Giant Advanced Classroom Example:

I use stairs and an incomplete second floor to keep this all one room, but you can also do multiple big rooms if you cant fit all 7 in 1.

Intermediate Classroom -> Advanced Classroom(s)

What makes this transition difficult/confusing:

  • Intermediate Classroom requires a Learning Stone, which is not permitted in Advanced Classrooms
  • Advanced teaching stations required for Advanced Classrooms can only teach one magic type
  • Unlocking all teaching stations takes a long time
  • Intermediate classrooms are necessary for some medallions

Once you begin unlocking teaching stations you may want to build an advanced classroom, but find your students still prefer to use your old intermediate classroom. You cant get rid of the intermediate classroom yet because you don’t have all of the teaching stations unlocked (or need it for medallions).

How do you make the transition?

Groups!

Set up groups for each magic type as follows:

  • Member All Students
  • Skill Capped *type* Is Not Capped

Set the intermediate classroom to accept all groups you don’t have teaching stations for

Each time you unlock a new station select the station and set your preferred teacher(s) and set the student access to match the group for students who are not yet capped in that skill. Then select the intermediate Learner Stone and remove that group from the access list.

Now your students will prefer to study at your advanced classroom(s) when they can! Once their advanced training(s) are complete they will complete their training for the remaining types in the intermediate classroom.

Advanced Classrooms -> Endgame Classrooms

WIP, but basically the same but you set the groups to use the endgame classroom instead.
