Tunguska The Visitation Beginner’s Guide and Tips

A small collection of basic information, research advice, (walkthrough, probably) for Tunguska the Visitation.

Introduction

In Tunguska locations you can find: habitats of friendly and hostile NPCs, monster spawns (some of them are hidden (ghouls will rise from their graves) like in the church location); wooden crates with loot, static “chests” and lockers; campfires where you can cook (not all campfires are suitable for cooking), beds; anomalies

The nature of the behavior of human NPCs is quite simple – they patrol their camps and will react only when an enemy is detected (most often mutants, wolves) in their field of vision. If you are chased by mutants – you can approach a friendly camp, where you will be helped to destroy them.

Later on, after opening new locations and passing the time, friendly and hostile factions will occupy places laid down by the game or attack other points almost all over the territory of Tunguska. They can also launch attacks against each other. (You will see a message in the lower left corner of the screen, for helping a friendly faction you will get reputation improvement and loot from corpses.

Reputation in this case increases only if you personally eliminate the enemy).
Monster appearance points are fixed and as you progress in the game (in particular, after the visitation), new mutants will appear, they will become stronger and there will be more of them in positions.

Crates, Workbenches and Labs

Wooden crates (which can be destroyed) contain random loot that can be broken by getting close to them. The chances of dropping equipment are small, but crates can reappear at the starting points where you originally saw them after a certain amount of game time. Items that can appear there most often: junk, food and ammo, materials for making serums. Don’t be lazy to search them when you get a chance.

(Be careful! Wooden crates after destruction leave boards that can interact with your character and block his path (or on the contrary give new opportunities to explore, depends on your luck would :D)).

Static crates and lockers store loot, the most convenient way to use them is to store extra equipment that you can not carry with you, for example after a skirmish with bandits, find the nearest crate and put items there, they will not disappear and other NPCs can not interact with your stuff.

(When killing human enemies, they can leave the coordinates of the stash with a rough description of where the stash is located. After receiving information about the stash this crate, backpack appears in the game and it can be searched)

Crates on bases. Each camp NPC several boxes where you can store your equipment. To optimize your game in the beginning, I recommend that you take the base of the Cossacks at the railway station (open the story location), because. in it there are 4 immediately available boxes (3 static, one on the train, which can be moved from location to location on the rails along with your loot, but for this you will need a wrench and three bolts) (and 5 will be available on the advancement of the quest Cossacks to find their man) and each of them to be assigned to food, ammunition, weapons (along with materials for serums). This base has a workbench where you can fix your weapons, assemble ammo, a lab to produce serums. And this location can provide you with everything you need to make money in a safe zone.

Anomalies

Here anomalies have several positions (from 2 to 3, for example), where they are able to “move”, but strictly in a certain place (for example, the anomaly near the village at the beginning of the game will be located only near the well) You can detect them if you listen closely to the sounds they’re making and throw stones towards the road + having activated experimental detector, which can be obtained from Hans in the initial village.

But there is a small trick, feature or bug, which can be fixed by the developer in the future. When you throw a stone on the right mouse button, you can see its flight path, and this yellow path becomes blurred, which will show the location of the anomaly, making it less dangerous for you. (works only with the bubble anomaly)

Quests

The following types of quests can be distinguished in the game:
-quests without time limit (bring something, explore, find something)
-Quests for serums for a limited time (you need to find the required drugs for the merchant and bring them before the deadline, given from a couple of weeks to complete)
-Small optional events tied to a certain time (Halloween every 7 days to fight a strong boss at the location of the church, you have 1 day)
-drop supplies in one of the locations for a limited time (up to 24 hours)

Tunguska Visitation does not force you to get through the game as quickly as possible by completing all quests. Only orders for serums from vendors from different camps will be time limited, the deadline to which you need to be in time will be marked with the date day – xx (if the deadline is written day-12, and you stay in the game only 5 day, then you have 7 days to complete this mini-quest).

Also, during the game there will be minor choices to decide to whom to deliver the item, whether to keep something or return it, but they affect mostly only the rewards and certain achievements in Steam.

Visitations (or blowouts) + Tunguska Syndrome.

Visitations happen every few days, being on the surface will damage you, adding Tunguska Syndrome and Radiation. If the visit catches you suddenly run to any building to reduce damage or if there is a basement or dungeon somewhere on the location – hide there, the effects of the visit will not affect you underground. (There are also serums that reduce the damaging effects of the Visitation on you).

If you have a large amount of TUN. Syndrome you take more damage, but it can be cured with serums, vodka, and the Visitation itself while on the surface, sacrificing health.
Also, after the visit, monsters become stronger, they will have an increased amount of health and some of them will start wearing some sort of armor. Plus, they will start to meet more often on the locations.

Radiation

Can be found everywhere in the game, but it is almost harmless up to an radiation level of ~35 points. After this value, your health will start to decrease rather quickly. Avoid barrels with radioactive waste, old vehicles and some places where the rad. background is off the scale.

You can overcome radiation with potassium iodide pills (which reduce the amount of radiation and give resistance to it for a short time), serums and doctors in the camps.

Saves

You can save with the quick save button when no hostile creatures are around and with a bed or sleeping bag. I recommend getting a sleeping bag as soon as possible, as it will be your constant way of getting an extra save slot (it will also restore your health). Make sure you have cleaned up the area around you and go to sleep for an hour, preferably while eating to restore energy and in addition to your health.

Saves can also be used as a way to get other items from the corpses of enemies and to get more leaves for serums, as each new loadout before killing an enemy changes the probability of finding other-new items and this applies to plant leaves too.

Serums

These are your improvements, cures, and wealth. When making them you need to have the recipe itself or look it up in other guides. If you plan to collect all the recipes yourself from the game story you will get a notebook in which you can write down each serum recipe. It takes up 4 slots and will hold all the papers without filling up other inventory cells.
At first try not to sell found monster and plant materials, especially very good quality ones, you can get much more money and positive effects if you keep them. Tip – use a single base with a laboratory on the territory to store all materials, do not forget about:
– Alcohol – it can be found everywhere in the zone
– Plants – similarly found throughout the zone, but on the farm after clearing it of bandits on the quest Sidor you will be able to provide yourself with a constant influx of new leaves, but it will take a lot of time without fertilizer.
– Parts of mutants – you will find them at the killed monsters everywhere, so where you saw a wolf, ghoul you will meet them in the next times. It will be best to kill them with hand-to-hand weapons, attracting them with shots, dealing a bit of damage with small arms (note that ghouls will then start limping, it will mean that they are about to die) at this point hide around the corner and kill them with cold weapons. If they start to catch up with you kick the enemy and he will be stunned for a while.
– Fuel – logs that can be chopped with a cold weapon (the same axe), go to a tall, not wide tree and start chopping wood. These are used in crafting, labs, and campfires.
– Fuel-gasoline is most often found inside cars or tanks, try to save them to make the most advanced serums that use gasoline.

Gameplay and Camera

Tunguska Visitation allows players to control the character from an Overview camera using multiple variants for it.
When exploring a new location, the hybrid camera is best suited to allow you to look farther ahead and get a better view of the new location, as well as for exploring a future battle location. This camera may also be suitable for players who use long-range weapons.
When engaging in direct melee combat in tight spaces, use the Chasecam, which provides for auto-targeting the enemy.

Gunfight

The AI can’t boast of any extensive knowledge of tactics, but this is compensated by high damage, so you won’t be able to simply rush the enemy. When facing a stronger enemy, try to take low covers, such as concrete slabs that completely cover your character in a sitting position, but when moving while sitting, your character is able to pop out of the cover to the height necessary for shooting, while the enemy is not able to hit you, because he thinks that you are fully protected. With this tactic, you will be able to take down well-defended enemies without much trouble.

Stealth

The game presents a simple to understand stealth mechanic, assuming creatures have an angle of view that decreases at night. The tools of our silent infiltration will be rocks, a boa constrictor, silenced weapons and perhaps mines. Before you start eliminating enemies in stealth – try to pick a time close to night time and activate the hybrid camera to see who is closest to you and examine the routes of patrols. In the meantime, don’t forget to make a save with a sleeping bag if you plan to farm yourself stashes or better equipment from the enemies.

In Tunguska, stealth mechanics are tied to sound; running, shooting, throwing an item will all attract an enemy when you’re close enough to them.

Use stones to distract the enemy. One throw will attract his attention, the second stone will make him approach the source of the noise. At this point, sneak up on him from behind and hold down the left mouse button.

If you have a situation when several enemies can come running to you at once, or they are all crowded together in front of you, you can use a mine as an option to neutralize the enemy without raising the alarm. When you throw a grenade, enemies can scatter, but NPCs don’t react to the mine, which allows you to blow up quite a few enemies without too much trouble.
Running, on the other hand, can lure an enemy from a medium distance to you in alert. Be careful.
