Valheim – How to Make an Enemy Proof House

This guide will be covering the ways on how you can build an enemy proof house in Valheim. If you’re always worried about being attacked by the AI enemies in the wild, you surely want to try this Valheim house building strategy.

Before we start, please note that this is just one of the ways to make a good AI enemy proof house. You can browse more of our Valheim guides to see more tutorials.

Building an Enemy Proof House in Valheim

In this Valheim house tutorial guide, we will be taking advantage of the indestructible terrain and other resources available in the game. Without further ado, let’s get started.

Indestructible Trees

I suggest finding a swamp or Mistlands biome next to a meadow/plains biome so that you can build a tree into empty space and not more trees. I advise choosing a tree that cannot be cut down, too.

How to do this:

  • Swamp, there are two types of trees
  • Mistlands trees

Moats (Leech Defense)

My favorite approach is to create either a plain or meadows biome on the edge of a swamp biome. Essentially, you dig a moat deep enough that your enemies can’t stand, link it to a deep part of the swamp biome and fill it with leeches. These leeches can destroy everything from other biomes/events that dare to reach the water.

How to do this:

  • Find an ideal location close to the water level.
  • It’s best to find a spot near a small pond or lake and next to a swamp biome.
  • Start digging the field and shift in one direction. Dig down until you can start swimming, then step forward and repeat until the moat is done.
  • Finally, in the middle of the building field, lift the ground 1 or 2 times and level it out.

The objective is to make the terrain impossible to climb, which means that you’re floating in the water. The method also works on plain ground, you don’t need water, you can just create an empty moat.

Rune

This is a great starter base, pretty easy to set up, just make your stairs go up and leave a gap at the bottom of the stairs that allows you to jump. Worrying about the enemies? Worry no more as they can’t jump.

How to do this:

  • Place a horizontal or vertical support beam and start building.

Raise the Ground

Let’s cheat the game a little bit, but not really cheating. Granted, it costs a little bit of stone farming to be able to do that, but not a lot. Essentially, you will lift the land and then place the buildings on that land to get it off the ground. This means that nothing can be lost. It’s probably the safest and most event proof you can create.

How to do this:

  • Find or open the field. Try to find one that’s pretty high already (this is important).
  • Level off the ground.
  • Raid up one portion to the max.
  • Start building a house.
  • Run down the side of the stairs, place a horizontal support beam on each 3rd stairway to the raised level.
  • Continue to do this until you get one stair off the level of your house.
  • Build yourself a gap and jump, since enemies can’t jump.

And that’s all of this enemy proof house for Valheim. Do you have more suggestion? Feel free to tell us by leaving a comment below.
