Age of Empires IV has officially arrived. If you’re one of the players who are trying to dominate the world, here are the default Age of Empires IV controls to help you get started.

Age of Empires IV Controls

Top Controls

  • Alt – Rotate Camera (Hold)
  • Ctrl + A – Select all units on screen
  • Y – Access secondary UI panel
  • Backspace – Reset camera
  • . – Cycle through idle economic units
  • Space – Focus on last event
  • , – Cycle through idle military units
  • Ctrl + H – Focus on Capital Town Center

Selection

  • Ctrl + A – Select all units on screen
  • Shift – Select all units
  • Y – Access secondary UI panel

Camera

  • Alt – Rotate camera (Hold)
  • [ – Rotate camera 45 degrees counter-clockwise
  • ] – Rotate camera 45 degrees clockwise
  • Arrow Up – Pan camera up
  • Back space – Reset camera
  • Arrow Down – Pan camera down
  • Arrow Left – Pan camera left
  • Arrow Right – Pan camera right

Unit Management

  • Tab – Cycle through selected unit types (forward)
  • Ctrl + Tab – Cycle through selected unit types (reverse)
  • F5 – Focus on selected unit(s)
  • Home – Follow selected unit
  • . – Cycle through idle economic units
  • Ctrl + . – Select all idle Villagers
  • Ctrl + Shift + V – Select all Villagers
  • , – Cycle through idle military units
  • Ctrl + , – Select all idle military units
  • Ctrl + Shift + C – Select all military units
  • / – Cycle through individual Scout units
  • ‘ – Cycle through individual religious units
  • H – Cycle through Town Centers
  • Ctrl + H – Focus on Capital Town Center
  • F1 – Select all military production buildings
  • F2 – Select all economy buildings
  • F3 – Select all technology buildings
  • Ctrl + F – Cycle through Villagers gathering Food
  • F4 – Select all Landmarks, Wonders, and Capital Town Centers
  • Ctrl + W – Cycle through Villagers gathering Wood
  • Ctrl + G – Cycle through Villagers gathering Gold
  • Ctrl + S – Cycle through Villagers gathering Stone
  • Ctrl + Shift + R – Return all Villagers to work (from Seek Shelter)

Communication

  • Shift + Enter – Global chat
  • Page Up – Scroll chat messages (older)
  • Page Down – Scroll chat messages (newer)
  • Space – Focus on last event
  • Ctrl + R – Attack Ping
  • Ctrl + T – Defend Ping
  • Ctrl + E – Notify Ping

Game

  • F6 – Toggle Players and Tribute panel
  • F10 – Game Menu
  • F11 – Toggle game time display
  • Insert – Toggle team-based or unique player colors

Single Player

  • F8 – Quick Save
  • F9 – Quick Load

Replay HUD

  • Ctlr + U – Toggle cinematic mode
  • Ctrl + C – Toggle free camera
  • Ctrl + F – Toggle Fog of War
  • – – Slower
  • = – Faster
  • Ctrl + ] – View next player
  • Ctrl + [ – Vew previous player
