With the start of a new year, Niantic has released a brand new set of challenges for players to complete in the top-hit mobile game, Pokemon GO. These new tasks include the Team GO Rocket Special Research, January 2020 Research Breakthrough, Adventure Sync event, and more. Below is the to-do list that players need to check for the first month of 2020.
Giovanni’s Special Research
Starting from January 1 to January 31, players will be able to encounter and battle Team GO Rocket boss Giovanni. Defeating Giovanni will capture and rescue the current Shadow Pokemon that he’s holding, Moltres.
Research Breakthrough
For this month, Pokemon GO trainers will be able to encounter and catch Lapras that knows Ice Shard and Ice Beam after completing the January 2020 Research Breakthrough. In addition, the shiny form of the featured Pokemon will also be available during the time period. This Research Breakthrough will be available starting from January 2 until February 2, 2020.
Adventure Sync Hatchathon
The return of Adventure Sync Hatchathon will begin on January 2, 2020. During the event, players will be able to receive extra Stardust, Rare Candies, and a Unova Stone if you walk a certain distance. Pokemon wearing party hats will also be available in Pokemon eggs or encountering them in the wild. The Adventure Sync Hatchathon will end on January 17th.
Legendary Heatran Returns
Legendary Pokemon from Generation IV, Heatran, along with its shiny form, will officially return to Pokemon GO via 5-star Raid Battles. It will be available starting from January 8th until February 5th. Make sure to prepare for an epic battle against this steel- and fire-type Legendary Pokemon!
