Children of Silentown Achievement Walkthrough and Tips

I have prepared a simple and straightforward walkthrough and achievement guide to assist players who are looking to progress quickly without wasting time. This guide has been written with minimal spoilers to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience.

Introduction

• As of the posting of this guide, the game has some bugs and issues on NG+ that make it currently unplayable. To obtain missed achievements, you will need to either start with new save files or manually back up your save files located at C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\Daedalic Entertainment GmbH\ChildrenOfSilentown.
• It is not possible to obtain both the Friend Achievement and the Cat Achievement in a single playthrough. The requirements for each achievement are specific to Chapters 1 to 4. I have included the requirements for the Friend Achievement in the walkthrough, and I will mark (*) the lines that can be changed for the Cat Achievement with my list provided at the end of the guide.
• While you are only supposed to play Chapter 5 to choose a different ending, the buggy state of NG+ prevents this. Therefore, you will need to either play again on a new save file or make manual backup save files.
• Puzzle solutions are provided in video format (credit goes to Lootward on YouTube), and I have included screenshots taken by myself.

Chapter One

• Begin by picking up the Ball and giving it to Blue, the boy.
• Allow the scene to play out and choose the option “Cut it out and play by the rules.”
• Head upstairs to Lucy’s room in her house and collect Lucy’s Diary and the Toy Mouse.
• Leave Lucy’s room and interact with the Mirror before going downstairs. This will unlock the Sticker and Egghead Lucy Achievements.
• Talk to Lucy’s Mom and take the Saucepan hanging near the entrance. Give the Saucepan to Mom.
• Give the Toy Mouse to Squinty, the Cat on the Chest. This will unlock the first part of the Children’s Song (Note 1/3 obtained).
• Take Firewood from the Chest and use it on the Fireplace.
• Talk to Lucy’s Mom again, take the Candle, and use it on the Fireplace. Then go down to the Cellar across the stairs.
• Place the Candle on the holder next to the door, grab the Sausages, and go upstairs.
• Watch the scene play out.
• Talk to Mom and pick up the Salt using the Stool from the same spot as the Saucepan. Place the Stool under the Salt.
• Watch the scene.
• Outside on the left, interact with the Trumpet-Looking Thing. This will unlock the Sticker and Trumpet Achievements.
• Near the Pipes, talk to the Old Lady. This will unlock the Sticker and Lucky Charm Achievements.
• Interact with the upper-right door to obtain the Weird Handle, then use it on the Bell. This will unlock the second part of the Children’s Song (Note 2/3 obtained).
• Watch the scene play out, and Chapter 1 ends (Note 1/3 of Mom’s Song obtained).

Chapter Two

• Watch the opening scene and choose the singular choices when prompted.
• Pick up the Broken Slingshot from the Dresser and then go downstairs.
• Watch the scene and then return to Lucy’s Room upstairs.
• Click on the Clothes on the Chair twice, then click on Squinty and go downstairs.
• Click on the Chest. This will unlock the Sticker and Hairball Achievements.
• Talk to Lucy’s Mom and grab the Grocery List from the table.
• Go outside and talk to Lucy’s friend Sunny. Then grab the Tights from the clothesline.
• Combine the Tights and Broken Slingshot to obtain the Sling.
• Head to the lower right to go to the town.
• In the center of town, grab the Bucket and use it on the Well to obtain Water.
• Talk to Blue below and use the Sling on his Ball. This will unlock the third part of the Children’s Song (Note 3/3 obtained).
• Watch Puzzle 1 in the video for the solution.
• Go to the upper red path to reach the Forest and grab the Mushrooms next to the Gate.
• Return to the center of town and head to the lower left for the Bakery.
• Click on the Box next to the Bakery and take it. This will unlock the Sticker and Broken Toy Achievements.
• Go all the way left and interact with the Spyglass. This will unlock the Sticker and Spyglass Achievements.
• Knock on the door of the Bakery and check the Grate on the left.
• Use the Children’s Song on the Baker.
• Watch Puzzle 2 in the video for the solution.
• Talk to the Baker, then get Bread and Candy.
• Run back home to Lucy’s Room, use the Box on Squinty, exit the room, and then go back in. This will unlock the first part of the Song of the World (Note 1/3 obtained) and fulfill the requirements for the Cat Achievements.
• Run back to the center of town and head down, past the guy fishing, to Olivia’s House.
• Talk to Olivia and then run back to the town center. Head upper right to the Barn.
• Talk to the boy Silver, give him Candy, and choose “I do.”
• Check the Barn Window to climb in, check the Right Window, and choose “Let it go.”
• Check the Right Window again, use the Sling on the tin can below the wood, and get the Knob.
• Go behind the Barn to the upper left corner and click on the markings on the grass. This will unlock the Sticker and Mysterious Footprints Achievements.
• Run back home and talk to Sunny.
• Go to Olivia’s House, give her the Knob, and get Veggies.
• Go back home and give Lucy’s Mom the Shopping Bag.
• Later, a scene will play out and you will obtain 5 Sandwiches.
• Give the Sandwiches to the old man on the right and his dog. This will unlock the Sticker and Puppy Achievements.
• Give the remaining Sandwich to Olivia or the two men, then report to Mom.
• When telling the ghost story, choose the following:
  1. Stealing Corncobs
  2. The Farmer’s Field
  3. A Scarecrow
• A scene will play out and Chapter 2 ends (2 Notes of Mom’s Song and 1/3 of the Song of the Forest obtained).

Chapter Three

• Watch the opening scene and choose the singular choices when prompted.
• Go downstairs and receive the Message and Doll.
• Talk to Olivia and grab the Cookies.
• Click on the Cabinet where Squinty is sleeping to enter the Labels Puzzle. Obtain the Tea Leaves.
• Watch Puzzle 4 in the video for the solution.
• Grab the Saucepan from the same spot as Chapter 1 and use it on the water bucket from the lower right. Use the Saucepan with hot water on the Fireplace to get Hot Water.
• Combine the Hot Water with the Saucepan to get Tea and give it to Olivia.
• Use the Children’s Song on Olivia.
• Watch Puzzle 3 in the video for the solution.
• Go outside and talk to the man fixing the pipes. Choose every option.
• Head to the town center and talk to Sunny. Choose every option.
• Grab the Stone covered by the Roof and use it on the Well. This will unlock the Sticker and Depths of the Well Achievements.
• Try talking to the Old Man nearby.
• Talk to Sunny again, choosing the new options.
• Go back to the Old Man, talk to him, and use the Children’s Song on him.
• Watch Puzzle 8 in the video for the solution.
• Talk to the Old Man again and choose every option.
• Go behind the Barn, pick up the Rake, and talk to the Old Lady. Choose every option. This will unlock the third part of Mom’s Song (Note 3/3 obtained).
• Use Mom’s Song on the Hopscotch Court for the Puzzle.
• Watch Puzzle 5 in the video for the solution.
• Enter the Barn through the Barn Window and use Mom’s Song on the Moving Sack.
• Watch Puzzle 6 in the video for the solution.
• Talk to Blue and choose every option.
• Go behind the Barn again and pick up the Crate the Old Lady was sitting on.
• Go to the lower part of the town center, talk to the other Mean Old Lady, use the Children’s Song on her, and talk to her again.
• Go left to the Bakery, talk to Silver, use the Children’s Song on him, and talk to him again. Choose “Why don’t you stand up for yourself?”
• Watch Puzzle 9 in the video for the solution.
• Return to the town center and enter the newly opened Farm on the right.
• Inspect the Beehives on the left to get the Rusty Key, then talk to the farmer Tom about everything.
• Go back to the Barn, use the Rusty Key on the Toolbox on the left, and take the Hammer and Hook.
• Go back to the Farm and use the Hammer on the Rabbit Cages.
• Inspect the Scarecrow (enter the field by the lower left side) and get the Peel.
• Go right and use the Crate on the Cherry Tree to get the Branch of Cherries.
• Run back home and use Mom’s Song on the Hat next to Coal the Dog.
• Watch Puzzle 7 in the video for the solution.
• Go to the town center, talk to Sunny, then give her the Branch of Cherries and Rake to get the Shears.
• Return home, use the Shears on Coal, grab the Rope, and then follow him.
• Give Sunny the Shears back and follow Coal into the Forest.
• Watch the scene play out, then inspect the Gate. This will unlock the Sticker and Coal’s Fur Achievements.
• Go to the Bakery and give Silver the Peel.
• Talk to the girl Raven about everything. Choose: “You mean the…singing?”
• Talk to Red about everything. Choose: “I’ll tell everyone you like Sunny.”
• Win against Red in the Race and talk to him again.
• Talk to Black about everything.
• Win against Black in the Race and talk to him again.
• Go to the Barn and talk to Blue again about the new options.
• Go to Olivia’s House, combine the Hook and Rope to get the Grappling Hook, then use it on the Left Wall.
• Grab the blue Thibescus flower and inspect Olivia’s Door. This will unlock the Sticker and Complicated Padlock Achievements.
• Go back to the Old Man, give him the Thibescus, talk to him, use Mom’s Song on Thibescus, then talk to him again.
• Watch Puzzle 10 in the video for the solution.
• Go home, watch the scene play out, and Chapter 3 ends.

Chapter Four

• Watch the opening scene play and choose the singular choices when prompted.
• Grab the hammer on the dresser, go downstairs, and talk to Lucy’s Dad.
• Go down to the cellar and take the two corks from the two bottle crates.
• Go back up, take the third cork from the kitchen counter, and go outside.
• Interact with the flowing tap, interact with the red valve, and inspect the pile of junk on the right.
• Go back into the house and take the bottle of oil from the kitchen counter.
• Go outside and use the bottle of oil on the red valve to shut off the water.
• Plug the two holes on the front pipe with the two corks and the hammer.
• Turn on the water, take the newly appeared cloth, and turn off the water.
• Combine the cork and cloth to get a wrapped cork, then use it on the last hole on the back pipe.
• Turn on the water again and go through the new path.
• Try to take the ladder and click on the middle window above the ladder. (Obtained Sticker & Big Metal Ruler Achievement)
• Use the hammer on the right window to get a shard of glass, then use it on the ladder.
• Watch the scene play out. (Obtained Note 2/3 Song of the Forest)
• At the town center, click on the silver behind the well.
• Go to the farm and head to the cherry tree, pull the rope, and grab a bowl of fake spiders.
• Go inside the barn and click on the note. (Obtained Sticker & Blue’s Drawing Achievement)
• Go to the forest, click on Sunny, and use the children’s song on her.
• Watch Puzzle 11 in the video for the solution.
• Inspect the forest gate on the right, then talk to Sunny. Choose: “I’ll protect you.”
• Head to Lucy’s house and use Mom’s song on the wooden trumpet.
• Watch Puzzle 12 in the video for the solution.
• Talk to Black, put the fake spiders in his first hiding place, and talk to him again.
• Head back to the town center and during the scene, choose: “Cunning is more important.”
• Go to the bakery and talk to Raven at the far left. Choose: “Uh, yes of course!”
• Inspect the pile of straws in front of the bakery, then enter it.
• Talk to Blue and (optional) use Mom’s song on the fire.
• Watch Puzzle 13 in the video for the solution.
• Move towards the right behind Blue and inspect the gap. (Obtained Note 2/3 Song of the World)
• Return to the town center, choose: “Okay.”
• Watch the scene play.
• In the forest, try to get the doll from the white squirrel, get a branch instead.
• Use the children’s song on the blue vine.
• Watch Puzzle 14 in the video for the solution.
• Try to climb the blue vine, get a vine, and take the gross fruit.
• Inspect the red vines on the lower right and use Mom’s song on them.
• Watch Puzzle 15 in the video for the solution.
• Use the shard of glass on the statue that just closed its eyes.
• Go down again, then right, and grab the giant snail.
• Combine the giant snail with the gross fruit to get a sticky snail, then use it on the upper left rock.
• Before following the white squirrel, click on the sticky snail. (Obtained Sticker & Huge Snail Achievement)
• Go down and follow the white squirrel to the new area.
• Keep moving right until you reach the stealth segment.
• Try to move right again, then grab the skull.
• Don’t step on the red light when sneaking around.
• Go up to the second floor, then move all the way left.
• Combine the skull and vine to get a skull hook, then use it on the spring twice.
• Go back to the center, move back down to the first floor, and move right quickly by pulling vines to blind the monster.
• Use the children’s song on the blue vine.
• Watch Puzzle 16 in the video for the solution.
• Sneak back to the center and move up to the second floor.
• Pull vines to sneak right and use Mom’s song on the red vines.
• Watch Puzzle 17 in the video for the solution.
• Sneak back to the center and move up to the third floor.
• Sneak right and use Mom’s song on the red vines.
• Move upwards and try to use Mom’s song on the red vines.
• Move back, inspect the nearby vine, and use the branch on it.
• Use that vine again, quickly move up, and use Mom’s song on the red vines.
• Go lower right, use Mom’s song on the remaining red vine above, and take the weird artifact from the red vines next to Lucy.
• Before moving on, use Mom’s song on the red vines, go all the way left, use the weird artifact on the tree, and click on the left spot inside. (Obtained Sticker & Old Kettle Achievement)
• Go all the way back to the right and use the weird artifact on the door to move on.
• Watch the scene play out.
• Click on the plant’s tendrils (try 2nd twice, 5th, 6th, 1st, then 4th) and go inside.
• Keep going right until the screen is white.
• Move upwards a bit, then move right and up to interact with the bed of flowers. (Obtained Sticker & Flower of Hope Achievement)
• Go back, keep going upwards, inspect the tree, and choose: “Insert Hand.”
• Watch the scene. (Obtained Note 3/3 Song of the Forest)
• There’s no solution in the video, so I’ve provided a screenshot.

• Keep moving forward and upwards.
• Escape the maze by choosing a path that’s not covered by fog and matching the songs to the correct birds, then follow them:
  1. Use the Children’s Song for the Blue Bird.
  2. Use Mom’s Song for the Red Bird.
  3. Use the Song of the Forest for the Green Bird.
• Watch the scene.
• Leave Lucy’s Room, use Mom’s Song on the Red Vines, and enter the Parents’ Room.
• Watch Puzzle 18 in the video for the solution.
• Use the Song of the Forest on the Wardrobe.
• Here’s a screenshot for the solution:

• Inspect the bottom drawer of the wardrobe, then leave the room and go downstairs.
• Go down to the cellar, inspect the broken glass, then go back up. (Obtained Sticker & Glass Shards Achievement)
• Use Mom’s Song on the red vines and inspect the music box.
• Watch Puzzle 19 in the video for the solution.
• Inspect the front door, grab the fire iron from the right of the fireplace, use it on the gap on the right of the front door, and head outside.
• Move left, and if you followed the guide, one of Lucy’s friends will appear. Use the Children’s Song on her to talk to her. (Obtained Friend Achievement)

• Go left and use the Song of the Forest on the wall.

• Inspect the letterbox and check the mail in the inventory to get the small key and a message that you need to read.
• Go back inside the house and use the small key on the music box to get the bronze key and two messages.
• Go upstairs to the Parents’ Room and use the bronze key on the wardrobe’s bottom drawer.
• Read the papers and watch the scene.
• In Lucy’s Room, grab the sock, bed sheet, blanket, empty jar from the dresser, and the emergency cookies from the right drawer.
• Combine the empty jar and emergency cookies to get a jar of cookies.
• Combine the bed sheet and blanket to get a makeshift rope, then use it on the window and exit through it.
• Chapter 4 ends.

Chapter Five & Endings

• Go left and grab the bark from the dead-looking tree.
• Try going further left and inspect the plant with fireflies.
• Use the jar of cookies on the stream on the right to get a sweet jar, then use it on the fireflies.
• Go left and inspect the hollow tree trunk. (Obtained Sticker & Doll Achievement)
• Use the bark on the waterfall.
• Inspect the windmill. (Obtained Sticker & Windmill Achievement)
• Use the controls to move the canal to the 2nd mark from the left. Move lower left twice.
• Use the Song of the Forest on the water dripping from above.
• Here’s a screenshot for the solution:

• Go left, grab the basin covered in sand, backtrack, then use it on the newly appeared statue and take the shard.
• Return to the windmill, use the control to set the canal on the 3rd mark. Move lower left.
• Click on the vines (right, left, right, left, right, left) and take the shard.
• Return to the windmill and set the canal on the 4th mark. Go lower left twice, then right.
• Use the Children’s Song on the blue plant next to the beehive tree.
• Watch Puzzle 20 in the video for the solution.
• Use the fire iron to take wax from the tree.
• Combine the wax and sock to get a waxed sock, then use it on the basin.
• Click on the vines (right, middle twice, left) and take the shard.
• Return to the windmill, insert 3 shards on the upper left wall, push the lever, enter the half-open door, and move right.
• Go left, use Mom’s Song on the red vines, and keep going left.
• Watch Puzzle 21 in the video for the solution.
• When the screen is black, click on the bottom left.
• Grab a rock and use it on the monster.
• Watch the scene play out.
• The song commands for the white monster:
  1. Use the Children’s Song to make it sit still.
  2. Use Mom’s Song to make it follow Lucy.
  3. Use the Song of the Forest to assist Lucy.
• After that tutorial, have the white monster assist Lucy up the tree with the fruit (it has to stand under the tree), then use the fire iron on the fruit.
• Climb up the stone column to get the weird rune.
• Have the white monster sit still, go right, use the Song of the Forest on the leafy wall, then insert the weird rune.
• Here’s a screenshot for the solution:

• Call the White Monster and enter the new path.
• Have the White Monster stand on one of the floor buttons and Lucy stands on the other.
• Call the White Monster, enter the new path, and inspect the cave drawings. (Sticker & Mysterious Paintings Achievement obtained)
• Inspect the steel with writing on the right and have the White Monster help Lucy climb up.
• Outside, use the fire iron on the tree on the right to enter the next area.
• Grab the small basin, place it on the statue, click on the vines (left, middle, right, left, right), and go to the Windmill.
• Use the controls to set the canal on the 1st mark, go back to that same statue, and take the shard.
• Return to the Windmill, use the shard on the upper left wall, and push the lever.
• Set the canals on the 5th mark, then move lower left and then all the way right.
• Click on the vines (left to right: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 2nd), have Lucy and the White Monster stand on both floor buttons, and take the shard.
• Move left, down, and right to where the Beeswax Statue is, and go left behind the rocks.
• Have the White Monster help Lucy up to interact with the Thibescus Field. (Note 3/3 Song of the World obtained)
• Return to the Windmill, insert the shard in the slot right of the controls, then climb up to the right.
• Underground, have the White Monster follow Lucy, make it grab the vine on the right tree, make it drop the vine to Lucy, make it sit still, tie the vine on the boulder, make the White Monster move right, move left, and then make it pull the vine again.
• Click down four times.
• Watch the final scene play out.

There are four endings:

• Choose Children’s Song for the Children Ending & Achievement.
• Choose Mom’s Song for the Back Home Ending & Achievement.
• Choose Song of the Forest for the Forest Howl Ending & Achievement.
• Choose Song of the World for the Hope Ending & Achievement.

Friend Achievement & Cat Achievement Requirements

I will provide the Friend Achievement and Cat Achievement requirements separately from the walkthrough. The (*) on the walkthrough indicates where the requirements occur. Different choices and actions will show differences in dialogues as well. Aside from playing from Chapter 1 to 4, here are the requirements:

Friend Achievement:

• Choose: “Cut it out and play by the rules.”
• Choose: “I do.”
• Choose: “Let it go” (Don’t tell Olivia).
• Choose: “Let it” (Help the elderly couple).
• During the Ghost Story, choose:
  1. “Stealing Corncobs.”
  2. “The Farmer’s Field.”
  3. “A Scarecrow.”
• Choose: “You mean the…singing?”
• Give the shears back to Sunny.
• Choose: “I’ll protect you.”
• Find Black before Raven and tell her you found him.
• Talk to Blue during Hide & Seek.
• If done correctly, one of Lucy’s friends will appear near the end of Chapter 4.

Cat Achievement:

• Choose: “Show me what you got!”
• Talk to the Old Lady while she’s petting Squinty.
• Choose: “No, just asking.”
• Choose: “Tell Olivia.”
• Give Squinty the box.
• Choose: “React” (to the elderly couple).
• During the Ghost Story, choose anything but the choices I listed.
• Choose: “I don’t know what you mean.”
• Don’t give the shears back to Sunny.
• Find Raven before finding Black and lie to her that you found him.
• Choose: “You’ll be fine! You’re strong!”
• Don’t talk to Blue at all and end Hide & Seek without him.
• If done correctly, Squinty will appear near the end of Chapter 4.
