Fixing Intro DMV Crash in Burnout Paradise Remastered

In this basic guide, I will explain why the game often crashes at the DMV during the unskippable intro and share the method I used to fix it on a laptop.

Prelude

If you’re anything like me, you decided to get Burnout Paradise Remastered since they discontinued the original version.

Before opening the game, you will annoyingly have to create an EA Play account. And every time you load the game from here on out, it will open EA Play. Hooray.

Once you’ve completed that step, you can open the game and sit through roughly 7 minutes of meaningless unskippable scenes and intros.

When I first got past the unskippable intro, I was taken to the DMV, but unfortunately, my game crashed. I looked up every tutorial available. It is truly astonishing how a 5-year-old game from a AAA publisher could still have such a major unfixed glitch.

After nearly losing hope, I discovered a simple and easy fix that should hopefully work for you as well.

Now, it is worth mentioning that I have an Acer Nitro 5 laptop, so the steps might vary slightly for your setup, but it should be similar for most laptops.

The game has the unfortunate feature of using your real front camera to take a picture for the driver’s permit, and when the game tries to access it, it crashes.

The Fix

Here’s what you need to do to resolve this issue:

  1. Go to the device manager and grant administrator access if prompted.
  2. Search for “Camera” or “Imaging” in the drop-down list.
  3. Locate your front camera and disable it.
  4. If necessary, restart your PC and try launching the game again.

If this method doesn’t work and you have exhausted all other options, I recommend requesting a refund for the game. However, I hope that this method has resolved the issue for you!
