How to Achieve a Gold Medal in the Altar’s Combo Test in Frontier Hunter: Erza’s Wheel of Fortune

Simple setup/strategy to get the Combo Master Achievement (with video).

Build & Strategy

The mechanics for this minigame are different from the game’s normal combat.
Firstly, the punching bag doesn’t “get hit” like enemies do. Thus, cores like “get MP on crit” won’t activate.
Secondly, you aren’t actually doing any damage to the punching bag. Every move gives you a specific amount of points, so some moves/Artifacts/weapons are better for this challenge than others.
Thus, this minigame mostly rewards hit count more than damage output. So, high level gear and setups don’t make a massive difference, as shown with my gear setup.

After doing some light experimentation, I found an easy way to hit the 3000 point requirement for the achievement.

The setup is as follows:

  1. Use Ciara with a Sniper (the weapon tier doesn’t matter since you aren’t doing damage).
  2. Use two Tracking Sphere spells/Artifacts. The tier doesn’t matter, however lower tiers cost less MP and thus are better.
  3. Cores don’t matter too much, however there are a few helpful ones, namely:
    • Automatic Turret A Core (Automatic Turret I); Every fifth bullet charge regen, get two instead of one. This is very useful to get more Light Bullets off.
    • Skeleton Quartermaster Core; Reduces the cost of spells/Artifacts when under 50% max MP.
    • Berserk Demon Core; Increase MP regeneration.
  4. I used around 400-450 MP. Equipment, meals, stat boosting fruit and cores can help you get up to this number.

The main three moves I’m doing give the following points:

  1. Light Bullet (Sniper down-forward technique) = 120
  2. Tracking Sphere = 80
  3. Kick Combo = 38

The main strategy is to do as many Light Bullets and Tracking Spheres as possible. Light bullets will be limited by your bullet count, so just do as many as you can, preferably in sets of two for fast cancelling and positioning into kick combos. Tracking Spheres have a cooldown and should only be limited by your max MP, just spam them as often as possible. Dashing is useful for cancelling the ending lag of Light Bullet. When waiting for bullet count to recharge, I just did basic kick combos while continuing to spam Tracking Spheres.
Using this strategy, getting the achievement shouldn’t be too difficult. This attempt was very unoptimized and still reached 3100 points.
I’m really bad at these kinds of challenges. I’m sure there are tons of better approaches and optimizations for this, but this strategy was sufficient to get the achievement, which is all I wanted get.
