How to Fix Corrupted or Missing Scripts File Error on Startup

Ever tried to open Cyberpunk 2077 (most likely after a game update) and gotten this error?

Cyberpunk 2077 encountered an error caused by a corrupted or missing scripts file and will now be forced to close

I have found that the culprits are mods that alter the scripting of the game, specifically the mods redscript and RED4ext but also others, like ArchiveXL and TweakXL

The solution to the error for me was to:

1. Navigate to your Cyberpunk 2077 install folder (should be something like this)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077

2. Delete the folders

Bin Engine r6 and RED4ext

3. Go to steam library, right click on cyberpunk 2077, select ‘properties’, go to ‘game files’ and click on ‘verify integrity of game files’

4. If you had mods that relied on the redscript or other of the script editing mods, then you should disable mods on the launcher after steam has finished updating again. Alternatively, disable the mods that rely on the script mods in vortex before then enabling mods again.

Note: I unfortunately do not know of a way to get the script mods to work right now, but my guess is to wait for updates to these from their authors and then install them again.
