Basic Controls

The Controls (Skip this part if you know the controls already)

To move around, you simply use the WASD to move around.

  • W to go Forwards
  • A to go Left
  • D to go Right
  • S to go Backwards

To run or sprint, you hold Shift. Running consumes Arthur’s stamina.
To crouch, press Ctrl.

Combat using weapons

The weapon wheel

To equip a weapon, you press the Tab key to quickly equip your most recent used gun and you hold Tab to open the weapon wheel to select the desired weapon to use

Another way to open the weapon wheel is by scrolling up or down with your mouse.

Tip: While having a revolver equipped, if you press Tab two times. Arthur will put his gun away in style. Looks really cool

Some weapons are stored in your saddle so you have to approach your horse and open the weapon wheel from there and select the weapon from your horse using E and Q. You can also use E and Q to access items such as throwing knives (Unlocked as you play the story) in the weapon wheel.

You can also access items such as tonics and food by pressing R while in the weapon wheel. While next to a horse, another category will show up which you can go to by pressing R (Horse) which lets you retrieve Arthur’s hat or feed your horse etc.

How to use a gun

While having a gun equipped, you can shoot by pressing LMB which makes Arthur shoot waist down

This makes your accuracy worse but makes you fire faster.

You can also aim by holding RMB which makes your screen zoom in to aim better.

Dead eye

This is a mechanic which slows down time and lets you shoot your enemies easier. You can activate it by pressing CAPS or MMB while aiming your gun. While in Dead eye, you can mark your enemies using Q which marks an X on the areas where you pressed Q. You can then press LMB and Arthur will shoot all the X’s. This is especially handy when there is multiple enemies. You can also shoot normally by pressing LMB

Hand-to-Hand Combat

Damn it, You pushed into a random stranger in a saloon and now they want to fight you.

Well, its really easy to beat the crap out of them. This segment of the guide will teach you on fighting hand-to-hand.

To hit someone, press F or LMB. This will make Arthur punch someone or kick them. To block an attack, press R.

That’s the basics of hand-to-hand combat.

While fighting someone. Press E to grapple them. This will give you the option to “Beat”, “Choke” or “Dismiss”.

You can also press Shift + WASD to throw them to the floor on the direction pressed. (For example, if you grappled someone and pressed Shift + D, it will throw the person on the right side).

Range

This section of the guide is to help you decide what gun to use based on the distance of your enemy. By close range, The enemy is near you and around 1m~ distance. Mid-range is for enemies that are far, around 5m~. Far-range is for enemies that are 20m~ away from you.

For close-range combat. You can use knives, shotguns and revolvers

For mid-range, You can use revolvers and rifles

For long-range, You can use rifles and snipers

This will help you maximise your damage on whatever range you’re shooting.

Hunting

The best way to hunt and keep 3 star pelts is to use bow and arrow, or knives. For animals such as deer, you can shoot the arrow in the head or use your lasso and walk up to them to kill them with your knife. This will keep your pelts from getting ruined. For small animals such as rabbits, you can craft “Small-Game arrows” and use it to kill animals.

The way to tell what quality your pelt is to right click on an animal and study it. This will tell you its quality on the bottom right. You can also kill it and then you can tell what quality pelt it is. You can sell Pelts at the butchers in most towns. The butcher will usually pay decent money for perfect pelts. You can use the meat from the carcass to cook in your camp.
