With the new monsters and terrain in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Capcom has also added some new features for the damage dealer weapon Great Sword. Knowing that Great Sword is already the king of damage weapon in the game, the addition of its new move will surely boost its capability.
Great Sword Controls and Combo
There are no changes with the actions for the Great Sword. If you’re a new hunter and still having a hard time figuring the moves for this weapon, here are the basic actions of the Great Sword.
- Triangle – Overhead Slash
- Circle – Wide Slash
- Triangle + Circle – Rising Slash
- Hold Triangle – Charged Slash
- Hold R2 – Guard
- While Charging + Circle, While Evading + Triangle – Tackle
Useful Combos
- Circle > Circle > Circle – Combo with forward movement
- Circle > Triangle + Circle > Triangle – Combo on the spot
Charged Slash Combo
- Hold Triangle – Charged Slash
- > L + Hold Triangle – Strong Charged Slash
- > L + Hold Triangle – True Charged Slash
New Feature: If the first hit of True Charged Slash hits a soft part of the monster’s hide, the second will change into a more powerful True Charged Slash.
Slinger Burst (New Feature)
- Triangle + L2 (Requires slinger ammo)
An extra powerful slinger shot, useful for stunning monsters to create an opening. After a Slinger Burst, press Triangle to combo into a True Charged Slash.
