The Subject Achievements Walkthrough Guide

The achievement list for this game consists of 21 normal and 4 hidden achievements. I’ll do my best to be helpful to fellow achievement hunters. I’m not a pro in guides/walkthroughs, but I felt that this game needs at least one guide, even if it’s not a perfect guide.

The Subject Achievements

Next subject please
Finish the tutorial sequence – Self explanatory.

This Little Light Of Mine
Find the flashlight – You can find it very early in the game, in a room contained in the ARK section. You need a 4-digit code to unlock the door, which you can find in the SHURIN section, it’s displayed (and heard) on the multiple screens in the semi-room with the weird android device that is watching the screens. This code is random on each playthrough.

I’m Gonna Let It Shine
Turn on the flashlight – Self explanatory.

It was bound to happen
Die – There are two ways to die: 1. If the monster catches up to you, and 2. If you fail to use any of the bio-data terminals that are scattered throughout the facility for more than (about) 14 minutes.

iTab
Find the data tablet – You can find it early in the game in the AMADA section. Just snatch it from the hand of the dead guy.

Shurin Complete
Solve testing room Shurin – Self explanatory.

Amada Complete
Solve testing room Amada – Self explanatory.

Wilrem Complete
Solve testing room Wilrem – Self explanatory.

Ark Complete
Solve testing room Ark – Self explanatory.

10/10 would hide again
Successfully hide while monster passes your hiding spot – This can be a bit tricky to get. It’s very possible that the monster continues on a different path/corridor once you’ve hidden inside a vent, so it’s pretty hit or miss. Choosing a vent inside narrow, long corridors maximizes the chances of the monster passing by your hiding spot.

All Access
Collect all card compenents – The card (which you get right at the start, it’s in front of the big white container in the main room) needs 6 components to be complete. You get one from each of the 4 main puzzle rooms (Shurin, Amada, Wilrem and Ark), another one from the hatch that’s right below the spot where the orb is at the start of the game, and another one from the hatch that’s on the right of the ‘chair’ of the weird android thing that watches the screens in the SHURIN section. The former is only available after you’ve completed all 4 of the main puzzles (the little light on the hatch turns from red to green and you can open it), and the latter is available after you’ve unlocked the room where the flashlight is (again, the red light turns green and you can open the hatch).

I’m right here!
Die while hiding – This is even trickier than the “10/10 would hide again” one, because the monster needs to pass by your hiding spot AND you must be spotted by it, but it’s very hard to successfully enter a vent while the monster has eyes on you. I’ve found two ways to achieve this: 1. Since you run just a bit faster than the monster, you can outrun it in a long corridor and get inside a vent while the monster is seeing you, or 2. While inside a vent, crouch and turn your flashlight on while facing the vent door, so that the monster can see the light coming from inside the vent. In order for this to work, the monster has to pass by your hiding spot (again, hit or miss). You can also attempt to open the vent at exactly the moment when the monster is passing by the vent.

Maze Bright
Beat the game – Self explanatory.

I AM INTERFACED
Connect to Twitch with Twitch integration.

Switch it into turbo!
It does nothing… – This is easily missable because you have to do it during the tutorial, and many folks understandably don’t pay much attention to detail that early in the game. In one of the early rooms of the tutorial there’s a device on a wall that has a small button that reads “Turbo”. Just press it and you’ll have your achievement.

I’m Invisible!
Beat the game without being seen – Self explanatory. You can get it just by beating the game on Casual Mode, or you can go the masochist route and try to get it on Normal Mode, which sounds almost impossible since the monster appears randomly and quite often.

Game Genie
Enter a cheat code – This one depends on another achievement, the hidden “The Secret is Real” one. The latter gives you a 6-figure code (4 digits and 2 letters) and a hint (“Main Menu”) that you have to enter while you are on the main menu. There isn’t a specific option to use, instead you have to click on a specific surface (somewhere between the bright star on the right of the screen and the corona that is shaped by the star on the right of the base) and then type the code. If done correctly, the message “Hey Little Guy!” will appear and you will get the achievement.

I voted!
Have viewers vote for your achievement – This can be a deal-breaker if you’re going for 100% achievements, since it’s a pain if you are not a Twitch streamer. You basically have to stream your game on Twitch and have a viewer (ask a friend…) vote for your achievement.

Not A Killer
Find another way in – This refers to the huge white NAV LOCK door that leads to the final puzzle of the game. Once this is open (this happens when you place the complete card -and the 5 smaller components- in the available sockets in the hidden ARK room) you need to input an 11-digit code (9+2). You normally get this by purging the three subjects in the hidden WILREM room and then listening to the talking head inside there, but you can get it another way, without killing the subjects: Take the corridor directly opposite the room where you find the flashlight and search the area a bit. There is a Data Access Port on the floor, on the right of the single vent with the white door that is in that area. Scan the Data Port and it will provide you with a different 11-digit code. Use this code instead and you will get the achievement.

Out in the Black
Beat the game without charging the flashlight – Self explanatory, albeit rather difficult. You have to be fairly familiar with the maze and make sure not to use the flashlight wherever it’s not absolutely necessary. Basically have it turned off unless the area you’re in is pitch black (this happens often in the WILREM section, which is quite large unfortunately). Important Note: Whenever you load a saved game, you start the game with the flashlight automatically turned on, so it’s possible you won’t notice it right away. So have that in mind whenever you load a saved file.

Clean Run
Beat the game without loading a save file – Self explanatory. Basically you have to beat the game in one sitting (suffice to say that this is way easier on Casual Mode).

I’ve Clicked Everything
– In order to get this you have to press all placebo buttons (the big red buttons that make a ringing sound when you press them) in the game. They’re scattered all over the place (even inside vents), so you have to keep an eye for them.

Stay Down Here
– This is easily achieved by trying to exit the very last room of the game, the end area. Right when you enter it there is a (shut) black electronic door on your right. Try to click it open and you’ll have your achievement.

The Secret is Real
– For this you will need a 6-digit code that you have to use on the panel in the AMADA section (using the dead guy as a starting point, it’s in the first corridor on your right). You need to carefully explore the all white room you’re in during the tutorial. Once you’ve managed to complete the puzzle and open the elevator door and before you proceed to the elevator, make sure to hit both dark red switches that are on the left and right wall of the area directly preceding the elevator. Once you hit them both, the large hatch right behind you will open and the 6-digit code will be revealed. Note that this code is the same for every playthrough, so once you get it you can use it in future playthroughs.

Data Miner
– You need to access all Data Ports to get this one. They are scattered throughout the facility, but the very last one is not accessible until after you’ve successfully entered the 11-digit code behind theNAV LOCK door. Once you’re through, check on the wall on your right and there is the very last Data Port. Click on it and you’ll have your achievement.
