War Brokers Beginner’s Weapons Guide

This guide will teach you a use you might or might not have known for every weapon in War Brokers

Introduction

This guide is dedicated to bringing you knowledge on weapons! This guide assumes prior knowledge of the game’s weapons and doesn’t teach you how to use them regularly. If you’re already a pro, you might know many of these, but bear with me- not everyone does.

That said, lets get started!

Rifles

AR Rifle
While it’s a versatile weapon made to be used at any range, this rifle often is actually more favorable at close-mid range than the AK rifle due to its recoil control. This may seem counterintuitive, the AK rifle is literally made for this range. But you’ll have a greater change at landing headshots with this weapon.

AK Rifle
The AK rifle can sometimes be used as a psychological weapon. Out of all the noises of the battlefield, three stand out among the rest; those being the Sniper, the VEK SMG, and the AK rifle. People are naturally drawn toward unusual sounds, so you can use this weapon near corners to either lead people into a trap- or if it’s a tight spot, keep them away for fear of the AK’s supreme damage output in close quarters.

SCAR Rifle
The SCAR rifle is generally best at long ranges, but in most cases then if an opponent is too far for the AR, you should just use a sniper. Instead, the SCAR has a high magazine capacity and is useful to lay down suppressive fire over long periods to cover an advance.

LMG
The LMG has very little damage dropoff, so is generally used for sniping, though I’ve found another ruse for it- holding hallways in tight maps. Sit at one and of the hallway and practically be a sniper with scopes on, killing all who dare enter.

Rapid-fire Weapons

Sub Machine Gun
This weapon is ideal for maps like Office and Area 15 Base. It doesn’t have many uses outside the obvious, but one thing I’ve noticed is that it’s very good for holding a trap. If you jump onto the rim of a doorway’s top and crouch there, wait until people come out from the doorway, then shoot them dead in moments.

Do note that they could come from the other way, so be cautious.

VEK SMG
This SMG is like the Sub Machine Gun, but with a twist; it has a higher rate of fire, lower damage per bullet, and the ability to damage vehicles. Realistically, you’re unlikely to kill a vehicle with the VEK, but you can stop them from healing with an occasional shot- and with consistent firing from a tight spot, I’ve forced tanks to move out of strategically advantageous positions just by pestering them.

AK SMG
The newest weapon, the AK SMG has an even higher rate of fire, but an absurd amount of recoil. It’s practically a baby minigun, and dominates at close quarters.

While it’s best for assaulting, it’s actually quite good at holding corners. If you stand a small distance from a corner and fire with sights on when you see someone, you can kill them fast.

Due to how little time it’s been around, I haven’t had time to experiment enough to find hidden uses very much

Minigun
This is very obviously a vehicle buster. However, something peculiar I’ve noticed while using it is its lack of damage dropoff- its damage is quite good per bullet at long ranges. I’m not sure if it’s just me who’s noticed this, but I’ve used it as a defacto sniper rifle on several occasions.

VSS
The VSS is equipped with a sniper scope that you should frankly never use. This close-range weapon has among the lowest recoils in the entire game.

However, there’s one case in which the scope is useful- tree hunting. On maps like Northwest, people love to hide in trees. If you can get to a medium range, this weapon is extremely good for killing people hiding in trees.

Snipers

Sniper Rifle
The Sniper Rifle is exactly what it’s advertised as, which makes it difficult to find a “hidden” use for it. The closest I can find is that, as of recent updates, the bullets actually pierce multiple opponents, which means you can take out large groups very accurately.

.50 Caliber Rifle
Commonly known as a vehicle buster, this rifle is often used against tanks and cars. While this is good, it actually has another use- taking out jets. Jets can go down in 4-5 shots from this thing, which will free up your own air force to take out those tanks far faster than you can.

In addition, this rifle is far better at melee range than shotguns.

Auto Sniper
The Auto Sniper, in all its glory, has a much-overlooked use; because it’s extremely accurate and has almost zero recoil, it’s actually quite useful for destroying mines. May not sound useful, but if some weirdo is setting up mines all along the course and your tank is just rolling away, it’s good to give some fire and destroy the mines, possibly even killing the person who set them up.

Hunting Rifle
The Hunting Rifle is one of the only snipers (the only one to my knowledge) that actively has damage dropoff at greater ranges, it’s barely even a sniper. However, it takes two shots to the head to kill with it, so it counts.

This is one of the only snipers that has zero bullet drop, meaning the shot lands straight where you aimed it. As such, it’s good for pestering planes and helicopters- potentially even to the point of the pilot ejecting if they’re inexperienced.

Crossbow
The Crossbow is the ultimate counter-sniping weapon. I know, it’s best at close ranges, but just aim it at the enemy and fire. Due to its nonexistent arrow gravity and its capacity to one-shot, you can just line up the shot fast, fire, and get into cover. If it misses, just repeat it. It’s very easy to take out a sniper with this strategy while avoiding many of the risks of counter-sniping.

Grenades

Grenade
The grenade is good for so many things (DESTROYING TANKS ISN’T ONE OF THEM), but one of the least talked about is how if someone is camping, just hold the grenade for exactly enough time and then toss it into their hiding spot so it explodes the moment it enters. It’s also very good for destroying land mines.

Smoke Grenade
If there’s a smoke grenade, common sense says it’s there to hide something. So if you toss it out, it’ll attract peoples’ attention there, which can not only distract snipers but also draw attention to an area.

Implosion Grenade
Ok, realistically there’s only one true use for this. Jump forward, then toss this into the air (at a 50-degree angle upward) and explode it after a tiny fraction of a second. It’ll pull you upward and practically give you a double-jump.

Laser Trip Mine
All grenades deal a tiny fraction of their normal damage when used against tanks except for the Laser Trip Mine, which means that if you use this and place it under an opposing tank (on on its path), it’ll deal full damage and will demolish its health.

Concussion grenade
Think of this like a VEK SMG. It’s good at bullying tanks without actually doing anything, getting them distracted and having them move and/or focus on you.

Other weapons

RPG
The RPG is often used in small maps and against vehicles, and one may thing that’s their only use- but that would be wrong. RPGs can be used in a fashion similar to Concussion Grenades in the sense that firing one at a sniper will ruin their day rather quickly and very likely will make them move to another spot. One of the best weapons for counter-sniping.

Homing Missile
I’m sorry, how do you use this other than to take out aircrafts? UhhhhDue to the low impact and knockback, it can be better to use this if you’re standing on top of a tank than using an RPG, since the blast won’t blow you off (as much).

Shotgun
The shotgun is useless. Just use the Tactical Shotgun instead.

…However, if you’re insistent on using it then this is like the Sub Machine Gun in the sense that if you stand over a doorway and wait for opponents, you can pretty consistently one-shot them.

Tactical Shotgun
The Tactical Shotgun is good for practically everything, but besides what I said about the Shotgun, it has an additional use:

being usablecrowd control. I know this seems pretty generic, but I mean it. Nothing will melt through a crowd of enemies faster. Completely and utterly.

Grenade Launcher
One of my favorite activities is to participate in Grenade Mobs, where there are huge groups of people with grenade Launchers that walk through and utterly wipe everything in their path. Once you have 3+ people with grenade launchers in a small area like Office, Area 15 Bunker, or a similar area, you’re nearly untouchable with some decent coordination.

Melee weapons

Fists
Your footsteps are silenced when you have fists equipped, and fists have the highest rate of attack out of any melee weapon (ignoring Chainsaw)

Knife
Ok, the knife is just fun, not many extra uses.

But it does provide a good walking speed and doesn’t make the noise of the chicken.

Rubber Chicken
In case you’re wondering why so many people use the Rubber Chicken, it grants a 10% speed buff while swinging it. Bit of a sweat weapon ngl.

Chainsaw
Boosts you forward while attacking, but makes noise. Like the Chicken on steroids but actually funny.

Pistols

Pistol
This pistol provides an increased jump height while holding it, but I still advise against using it… ever.

Revolver
The revolver is neat in just how much damage it can do to vehicles. Sure, it may not seem like much, but it’ll get their attention fast. Also, it has a scope.

Desert Eagle
The Desert Eagle, while nearly unusable in many cases due to its recoil, is surprisingly good at intimidation. This is NOT a guarantee, but sometimes I’ve seen people back up at the noise of a Desert Eagle.

Auto Pistol
Pocket SMG but worse. I generally use to to clear a room, though the sound of an Assault Rifle plays for other players when using it, so it can be quite good at confusion or intimidation in some rare cases.
